"The Supreme Court on Monday said schools in the country cannot compel students to disclose their caste status at the time of admission. Any such disclosure shall be optional, or in other words, it should be left to the discretion of the student to divulge his/her caste identity, a bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan said."

Susan,
Even today we fill our Government postings with quotas based on caste. Do you think People are out of their comfort zone to fight to get their piece of bread in open competition. I don't think. It will take the next generation to come out. I see all the private sectors except some companies putting these questions on their application. But it is a mandate as of now and will take another 50 years to take this column out of the public sector application.
Even if people are ready to participate in the Open Competition, There are unnecessary politicians who will never make it happen in the near future.
Cheers - Ranjith
