A trivia.. Approx. 300,000 extras were used in the opening sequence of the film - Gandhi's funeral sequence. - A world record at that.

Our Tamil satellite TV channels really have a "unique" way of commemorating festive occasions and national holidays indeed with movie based programs hogging 99.99% of the limelight.
